6:00 pm: Bob Talk: An Introduction to AI

December 15th, 6:00 pm
Free Event - donations to The Gathering Place encouraged
contact Robert Keller, 360.220.8330You may have lived through the entire history of AI. Surprised?
"Artificial Intelligence" sounds new and complicated, but did you know the idea is as old as rock and roll? You may have witnessed its entire 70-year journey, from room-sized computers to the "magic" of today.
Join Bob (aka Robert Keller) for a "Bob Talk" on December 15, 6:00 pm at The Gathering Place to unravel the mystery. We'll bust the myths and discover that AI isn't a person, but a powerful tool.
You will learn the surprising history of AI, from 1950s concepts to its big comeback; understand what today's AI (like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude) actually does; see how AI is impacts our world in positive ways, from personalized health to environmental monitoring; watch a live demo where we ask AI to create art and video inspired by our own Lummi Island living.
This is not a technical session—it's a story for the curious. Donations to The Gathering Place are encouraged, but the event is free. We look forward to seeing you there!
We are very grateful and honored that The Gathering Place and its commercial kitchen is so busy with all kinds of weekly events! But there are still plenty of open dates for your private event, meeting, fundraiser, retreat or reception. https://ligatheringplace.com/
As you plan your year end giving, we hope you will remember The Gathering Place and all it brings to the Lummi Island community.

2025-12-21Join us on Sunday, December 21st 4-5pm for a very special gathering: Remembering During the Holidays, a fireside circle and conversation in community.
The holidays can often be a time where grief and loss feel louder and more tender. They hold joy and heartache, presence and absence. There are missing place settings, empty chairs, and extra helpings of tenderness. This Remembrance Circle, guided by Jennifer Martin and held on the Winter Solstice, offers a soft place to land and find connection, comfort, and community — especially during this tender season.
Our time together will include a fireside conversation, where we can share a favorite moment about those we are missing during the holidays, an exploration of ways we might remember them in a holiday ritual, and a short practice with somatic tools to support the body to settle when overwhelmed. This session will be approximately 60 minutes long, and we will provide a nourishing herbal tea that can be supportive for grief and nervous system care. You are also invited to bring an object that is meaningful to you, to place on the memory table, or anything else that will support your comfort during this event.
The event is FREE but pre-registration is helpful to plan for tea and space. Drop-ins are warmly welcomed.
