PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION TO MEET AT THE GRANGE ON THURSDAY, Nov 17th, 2022 6pm (This Thursday)
The Whatcom County Parks & Recreation Commission chooses different locations for its monthly meetings in efforts to gather opinions from all areas of the county – and it is Lummi Island’s turn to host a meeting. Please plan to join us August 17th at 6 PM at the Grange.
This is a great opportunity for all island residents and organizations to attend and get to know more about the Parks & Recreation Department. The commissioners will have time on the agenda for public comment, so this is a chance to provide input on your priorities and concerns.
The Commission encourages public input, so you have a chance to speak about your priorities and concerns. Each speaker has 3 minutes to make a comment, provide a suggestion, or ask a question. Please come share your thoughts. Island students are especially encouraged to attend.
The Lummi Island Community Association (LICA) will host presentations by a variety of island organizations to help commissioners learn more about community needs and programs.
The purpose of the Whatcom County Parks & Recreation Commission is to advise the Parks & Recreation Director on parks, recreation, and senior services issues. The commission provides recommendations in the development and review of acquisitions, plans, programs, policies and funding for parks and open space. The Commission serves as a liaison between the County and citizens and works to promote parks, recreation and senior services programs.
