Blood Donation takes less than an hour and each donation can save the life of up to three patients.
2022/12/01 3pm Update:
All of the appointment slots have been filled for December! Thank you so much to everyone who has made an appointment.
2022/12/01 Noon Update:
On behalf of LICA, I am pleased to announce that as of today we have filled all but three of the thirty-four available blood donor appointment slots for our first on island blood drive in three years.
A sincere thank you to all of you who have already made your appointments to donate. Bloodworks NW’s mobile donation team will be at the Grange Hall on Tuesday December 6th from 11 AM to 5 PM. All morning and early afternoon appointments are now full. The three remaining slots are all after 4 PM.
I am confident that there are at least three more Lummi Island community members that will sign up in the next few days so that we will meet our goal for a full blood drive.
LICA is excited to announce that after three long years we are finally able to bring Bloodworks NW’s Mobile Blood Drive Team back to Lummi Island for one day “Pop Up” Blood Drives. Islanders once again get to roll up their sleeves and donate blood without having to take a ferry trip. Our first post pandemic Lummi Island Community Blood Drive will take place at the Grange Hall on Tuesday December 6th from 11AM through 5PM.
Unlike in past Lummi Island Blood Drives every donor must schedule their own appointment directly with Bloodworks NW. You can do this either online at h5.LICA.us or call Bloodworks NW 1-800-398-7888 during working hours. All donors must have an appointment before the drive. No walk-ins can be accommodated. For the protection of donors and Bloodworks employees masks will be required inside the Grange Hall.
More good news for those of you who have wanted to donate blood in the past but have been ineligible for many reasons, there have been some very important changes regarding eligibility guidelines issued by the FDA in 2020. Many people once permanently deferred are now eligible to donate.
You can see this information at h4.LICA.us or call 1-800-398-7888.
If you need any help getting registered, please call LICA’s blood drive organizer Mary Ross 425-941-0087
