- We will socialize gently before the meeting
- LICA Business Meeting (full agenda below)
- Our speaker will be Julie Meyers, MS, RD who is the Meals on Wheels and More Director.
A program of the nonprofit, Whatcom Council on Aging, Meals on Wheels and More provides nutritionally balanced meals to homebound seniors (age 60+) throughout Whatcom and San Juan Counties. In 2021 Meals on Wheels and More delivered 136,000 meals to nearly 1,000 at-risk older adults throughout Whatcom County, including 2,700 meals to 20 Lummi Island residents. Meals are delivered by a dedicated team of volunteers, who also provide a vital opportunity for socialization for many of the County’s most isolated seniors. Volunteer drivers also serve as the eyes and ears for the seniors we serve, and alert staff of any concerns they observe.
As always, One lucky LICA Supporter who attends the full meeting and presentation in person or via Zoom might win this month’s door prize.
The full agenda and any other documents will be posted below as they become available.
NOTE: LICA’s Public Dock Advisory Committee will discuss an opportunity to apply for funding from a new Planning for Recreation Access program. Grant money would help us plan and facilitate a series of events to increase community outreach and collect diverse opinions. It would also pay for engineers to study feasibility of dock options, develop pre-design drawings, and prepare preliminary budgets for public discussion.
