In November 2022, Lummi Island Community Association (LICA) submitted an application for a grant from the Washington state Recreation and Conservation Office. This was for a pre-planning grant to fund feasibility studies and development of concept designs for building a public dock on Lummi Island. The grant would facilitate community outreach and discussion about dock options.
Unfortunately, we narrowly missed being selected for this round of funding. We were ranked 25th out of 99 applicants, and only the first 21 projects were funded. HOWEVER – now there is a campaign to encourage legislators to fully fund the projects.
