Tsunami / Emergency Siren Tests (Whatcom County)

All sirens in the county are tested on the first Monday of each month at approximately 12 Noon.   Please do not call 911 about the test.
There are two sirens close to the Island:

    • The newest one is at the Lummi Bay Market @ Fishermans Cove across from the Gooseberry Ferry Dock
    • The other is on Haxton near the Red River / Casino area

You will hear an announcement about the test, generally followed by Westminster Chimes playing.
In the case of a Real Emergency, the Siren will have a totally different wailing sound and announcement, repeated several times.

Always follow the directions immediately if it is a real emergency.  Your Life Depends on It!

Whatcom County has sirens in Blaine, Birch Bay, Fairhaven, the Lummi Nation, Point Roberts, Sandy Point and the Port of Bellingham. Funding was provided by the United States Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Washington State Military Department, and Phillips 66 Ferndale Refinery.
