Our Fire Chief retires

After almost 32 years with the fire district, 20 as Fire Chief and recently diagnosed with arthritis in my lower back, I will be retiring from the fire service on June 22. It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve this community for all these years.

The current membership is the youngest I have seen in many years with a great passion to provide the community the best service. Providing such a critical service for a small unique and isolated community is an enormous task and requires adequate personnel, equipment, facilities and funding to be successful.  This community has supported the District since 1960 helping make it what it is today.

That support has come from many individuals volunteering countless hours to help those in need, be it becoming a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician then continuing that education on a regular basis to maintain those skills or helping the community be better prepared for disasters.  The other support has been donations and the approval of tax levies that fund the district.  In parting, I ask each of you to continue that support to the best of your ability.  It has been a very meaningful chapter in my life.

Many thanks for all the support and encouragement throughout the years.

Sincerely,
Duncan McLane
