Introduction
The Community website is designed to be used on:
- Desktop / Laptop computers
- Mobile devices
- Smartphones (Android & iPhone)
- Tablets (iPad OS, Chrome OS, or Windows OS)
Approximately half of the persons using the website are on a mobile device.. so having a Responsive Layout is very important to us.
Note: You are automatically placed in Mobile mode if your screen is 800 pixels wide or less.
If you are in Mobile mode, you have a Left “Main Menu” and a Right “Ferry / Travel / Weather” menu.
There are often subtle differences in how mobile devices work and present information, controls and features. We work hard to make desktop and mobile devices work equally well.
Here are tips and issues we have found that effect any website on mobile devices.
Android

- Back Button
- Depending on your particular manufactures implementation of Android, and your personal settings, things work a couple of ways.
- If you have Gestures enabled, often a simple ‘swipe from left to right’ from outside the screen to the inside acts as the back button functionality.
- If you don’t have specific gestures enabled, there is likely to be an on-screen ◄ icon which is the back button functionality.
- This also changes if in a Browser or launching the website from a “Home Screen” icon.
- In browser, you should have a virtual back button.
- Using a home screen icon, look for an on-screen ◄ icon or swipe from left to right when gestures are enabled.

- We have multiple Android devices to test with, but your feedback and assistance are always invaluable. Let us know if you have any issues.

iPhone

- Back Button
- The functionality is achieved in the iPhone and iPad by a simple ‘swipe from left to right’ from outside the screen to the inside.
- It is up to the individual application to provide a virtual on-screen back button. Not all do.
- If the website presents in “Full Screen Mode” on your device, use the swipe functionality.
- We do not yet have an iPhone to test with – so your feedback and assistance is invaluable. Let us know if you have any issues.

Tablets
-
- A few tablets have big enough screens to work well in mobile Portrait or Landscape mode.
- We recommend you work in Portrait unless viewing a Video Image like YouTube or one of the camera feeds.
- Some tablets have screen sizes that will allow the website to stay in Desktop mode (larger that 800 pixels for both width and height)

Desktop / Laptop Computers
-
- You should not experience any issues, but if you do Let us know.
